As Midland Fire have grown, we are proud to work with several charitable and local organisations to give something back to our community.

We are expanding our sponsorships to support clubs and charities in the areas where we work. Including Birmingham, Coventry and Nottingham – Not just our hometown of Burton On Trent.

Apprenticeships at Midland Fire

Every year Midland Fire takes on new apprentices, providing full on the job and theoretical training to industry standards. At any one time we have several apprentices at different stages of their Electrotechnical Qualification. This includes stages 1, 2 and 3. Since the start of 2023 we have 2 office administration apprentices to help meet the demands of a growing order book.

We pay a fair “earn while they learn” salary covering living expenses during training and upon completion offered a full-time position within the business.

Midland Fire Apprentices get block release to attend Burton Training Organisation (BTOL) Ltd. BTOL operates in association with Derby College – teaching both practical and theoretical skills.

Derby College Careers Presentation

Dave Green the Training Manager at Midland Fire presented to students at Derby College to help generate interest in Life Safety and Electrical apprenticeships.

Following our presentation Midland Fire successfully took on a trainee fire alarm engineer from Derby College.

Work Experience for GCSE Students

In March 2024 over two separate weeks Midland Fire provided work experience placements for two students from the Noel Baker academy in Derby.

This is the second year we have helped students from the local area, it is part of their curriculum to spend a week in a commercial environment, the benefits to the students are numerous.

Work experience will not only help you get more job opportunities, but also:

  • Develop skills.
  • Helps towards deciding on a career or apprenticeship.
  • Boost your confidence.
  • Gain insights into the industry & gain some work experience.
  • Become a more attractive candidate to potential employers.
  • Learn about yourself and your career goals.
  • Learning about the work environment, interaction with others outside the school environment, the various activities involved in the workplace.

To maximise the benefits we had both students carry out various tasks both within the office and visiting sites to see the work that is undertaken, providing valuable insight into the workplace.

‘Noel-Baker Academy believes all our students are entitled to experience a workplace and that this gives them an excellent taste of their next steps towards the best of their future options.’
