Course Overview

This training course is ideally suited for electricians and other engineering staff that are already experienced in the installation of conventional fire detection and alarm systems and conversant with the relevant standards (BD5839:1) and legislation relating to the Design, Installation, Commissioning and On-Going Maintenance of such systems.

  • Ability to read and write in the course language (English).
  • An Appreciation of Fire Alarm systems, their functionality and purpose.
  • To have completed Midland Fire’s MFIT-02 Training course prior to attendance.
  • To have passed F.I.A. Unit 1 – BS5839:1 Fire System Design or equivalent (Desirable).

Upon completion of this training activity, the successful delegate will be able to / have an understanding of the:

  • Principles and Practice of Cause & Effect Plans.
  • Principles and Practice of Phased Evacuation.
  • Principles and Practice of simple Isolation areas.
  • Principles and Practice of Sensor State Change Configuration.
  • Principles and Practice of Non-Fire Operations.
  • Principles and Practice of Coincidence Detection.
  • Principles and Practice of Device Addition and Removal on SAFE Addressed systems.
  • Principles and Practice of Cause & Effect Plans across a Network.
  • Principles and Practice of Global Controls (Sound / Silence / Reset).

Practical Assessment throughout the duration of the training course.
