Your commercial door access control questions answered

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. It’s an electronic network in which two devices communicate wirelessly via radio signals. An RFID door access control system therefore consists of a stationary reader and either a key card or a fob which stores access credentials, and the two communicate wirelessly when physically connected.

When a card goes missing, it first must be reported. You then have the power to revoke access from that card in the central database, essentially making it useless. If that card is then used again, the access control system will alert you as to where and when the attempt has been made.

Yes, they can. Our team can design an access control system that covers several sites in different locations if that’s what you need, meaning that just one card is needed to access every site. This cuts down the number of access cards needed for staff and reduces admin and confusion.

Yes, we can integrate your access control systems with other security systems, such as CCTV, intruder alarms and fire safety systems. This will help you monitor and respond to incidents, enhancing the overall security of your premises. Access control can also be connected to your heating, air conditioning and lighting systems, meaning these amenities are only used when needed which cuts down on costs.

Our engineers can ensure that your door access control system will still operate if the power goes out by installing a backup power system or battery backup plan. Ensuring your system is reliable during a power outage is necessary in adhering to the UK standards.
